News: Exploring the Evidence for IIDA
November 18, 2006—Recent presentations of CHER studies include "Exploring the Evidence", a CEU program prepared for the Carolina's IIDA City Centers in early 2006 by Jane Rohde, AIA, FIIDA, ACHA, AAHID. This program includes information and summaries on four completed studies; The Nature and Rate of Change in Hospital Laboratories, The Use of Single Patient Rooms vs. Multiple Occupancy Rooms in Acute Care Environments, Color in Healthcare Environments, and Limiting the Spread of Infection in Healthcare Environments. "Exploring the Evidence" has continued to be developed into a Webinar reaching design professionals and health systems around the country. Thanks to the support of Bentley Prince Street and Herman Miller for Healthcare, the Webinars will continue into 2007.
At Healthcare Design 2006 in Chicago, The Impact of Single-room Neonatal Intensive Care on Users' Health and Satisfaction was presented by the researchers, Mardelle McCuskey Shepley, D. Arch., Debra Harris, Ph.D., AAHID, IIDA, IDEC, EDRA, and Robert White, M.D. The completed educational CD of this recently completed study was also released during Healthcare Design 2006. The CD is available on the website, www.CHEResearch.org for $35.00 each.
At NeoCon 2006 (Chicago) and NeoCon East 2006 (Baltimore), Jane Rohde, AIA, FIIDA, ACHA, AAHID presented Limiting the Spread of Infection in Healthcare Environments. Monica DeBartola and the Merchandise Mart continues to be a strong supporter of CHER's work, providing an annual educational session slot for CHER studies at both NeoCon Venues.
Limiting the Spread of Infection in Healthcare Environments was first presented at Healthcare Design 2005 in Scottsdale and Healthcare Design Magazine is publishing an article on the study in December 2006. The article is authored by Roger Leib and Jane Rohde. The CD for Limiting the Spread of Infection is in progress and will be ready for release in early 2007.
