Perspectives Art Gallery: Charlie Barton
Charlie Barton is a contemporary visual artist working primarily with the silk screen process. His screen prints focus on subject matter, particularly urban landscapes, that is seen everyday but usually goes unnoticed. His work highlights the beauty in industrial and civic architecture, as well as in the decay of environments and their physical structures.
Through layering, the addition of patterns and careful cropping, he casts his subjects into new light. Barton’s prints follow a non-standard aspect ratio 1:1 or 1:2 (or larger), reflecting a broader theme that he has carried throughout much of his life and work—a delight in the unusual a distaste for established norms.
