Senior Living:
Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) Beautification Project

Architect, Interior Designer, Senior Housing Consultant

HABC needed to upgrade 11 public housing facilities in Baltimore City to bring them up to neighborhood market rate. The buildings—in dire need of transformation—primarily houses seniors with low incomes. The extensive upgrades encompassed architectural features, interior design, and furnishings.

JSR was brought into the project because of our 20-plus years of experience in elder care markets. We assessed the buildings, determined the scope of the work, and met with residents and staff members to get an understanding of the environment and culture.

The changes we made transformed the buildings: dark, dingy corridors became bright, open spaces, and residents and staff found the environment more welcoming and livable.
