Brooke Grove Foundation

Brooke Grove Foundation has been a repeat client for JSR Associates, Inc. since 2002. Initially, JSR was contracted to conduct the necessary preliminary research, to create and submit Brooke Grove Foundation’s Feasibility Study to the Maryland Department of Aging to become a certified CCRC.

Subsequently, JSR was asked to complete interior design and senior living consulting for the four Meadows, Brook Grove’s assisted living buildings which include 16 residents each. Design work included creating public spaces that have a residential scale yet allow for larger social functions; space planning and analysis; finish material and color selection; furniture selection and procurement; and innovative thematic signage and artwork installation. The transitional environments include appropriately dimensioned upholstered furniture that not only incorporates the needs of the staff and residents but also provides an updated marketable space.

JSR has also completed architectural planning for one of the “Woods,” a cottage style assisted living buildings within the Brooke Grove campus. Brooke Grove researched The Green House Project and reviewed the Silverados projects in California to evaluate their care model that included culture change. They then applied their findings to Brooke Grove’s household staffing and resident-centered care model redesign. Conceptual architectural design has been completed for an expansion to West Brooke, the community building serving residents living in independent cottages.

JSR’s most recent work for this client includes options for either renovation or replacement of the Sharon Nursing Home. Pre-design work includes an operational program and regulatory meetings to assist with identifying the best development direction for the common space used by the nursing home’s 48 residents with severe dementia.
