The Pines at Whiting (formerly Keswick Pines)
Keswick Pines is a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Whiting, NJ that has renovated and expanded their rehabilitation units. They have planned and, over time, phased in changes that include adding assisted living units, converting existing assisted living to a special dementia/cognitively impaired wing, renovating their existing assisted living and skilled nursing community space, and renovated their independent living community space.
Information for programming was collected through meetings with the administration, marketing and operational staff, and resident representatives. Subsequent review of the programming resulted in more usable space, improved continuity of public spaces, and resources (such as dining) located within walking distance for the residents. The resulting facility became a successful CCRC with a new marketable profile.
Lighting, finishes, and furniture were selected to aesthetically complement the interior and exterior architecture. JSR carefully selected furniture and finishes not only for their maximum senior-friendly function, but also for their economic viability. Paramount to JSR’s design intention is creating an atmosphere that supports a high quality of life. In 2005 they completed the Enrichment Center including a Town Hall meeting space, health club, board room, sales office, meditation room, and support areas adjacent to the existing independent living entry and the renovated dining room.
